“I am more interested in people than diseases,” said Dr. Philip Azer, a White Sands La Jolla resident, in a recent interview with the La Jolla Village News. He truly believes that one can continue their life’s work well into their golden years.
At age 82, Azer shared what motivates him to continue to work in the emergency room a few scheduled days a month at Scripps Memorial and Scripps Mercy Hospitals, as well as operate his own practice. His sole purpose is to help the patient, not his ego, he said.
“I’ve learned that I don’t always have to be the best.” Check out Dr. Azer’s story here.
