HumanGood Receives Grant from the Barton Foundation

August 18, 2020 -- The Barton Health Foundation, the philanthropic and community benefit arm of Barton Health, has awarded HumanGood a $10,000 grant to support the creation of a Compassionate Connections program at HumanGood’s Kelly Ridge and Tahoe Senior Plaza affordable housing communities in South Lake Tahoe, California. Compassionate Connections will provide residents with access to communication devices (iPads and tablet computers) to improve their access to health care, in addition to reducing their social isolation and restarting life enrichment activities. This technology will allow residents to participate in monthly health and wellness seminars as well as give them the opportunity to connect with their health providers through telehealth. 46 residents are served at Tahoe Senior Plaza, and 35 residents are served at Kelly Ridge.

This support will enable residents of these communities to have the opportunity to educate themselves on health-related issues and take proactive steps in managing their physical health. The support will also provide residents with the potential for increased social interaction, such as discussion and support groups.
