January 18, 2022 -- Valle Verde and Meals on Wheels have just celebrated a 30-year partnership. To date, Valle Verde has provided over 1.4 million meals to Meals on Wheels clients in the Santa Barbara area.
Assistant Sous Chef Kevin Abernethy has been a team member at Valle Verde for 37 years and remembers when the program started. “It has been satisfying for me to see the program evolve from sandwiches to hot meals. Knowing that our food is reaching so many people in need is heartwarming.”
Executive Chef Joshua Jones oversees the operation at Valle Verde. “Our goal is to move the program forward and keep on improving the quality and variety of meals offered.”
Andy Sheen-Turner, Director of Dining Services, said “For me, it is so rewarding to be part of such an inspiring program, knowing that we are making a difference in the lives of others and supporting the community.”
