Shaun Rushforth, executive director of the Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens in Fresno, California, was recently profiled in the USC Davis School of Gerontology alumni news. Shaun joined HumanGood in October 2020 after earning his master’s degree at USC, and serving as executive director of another non-profit, mission-driven senior community.
As the pandemic shifts into a new phase, with residents and team members receiving vaccines and many communities welcoming visitors once again, the past year has provided numerous things to think about regarding every aspect of the senior living industry.
“I like to say ‘opening anew’ instead of ‘reopening,’” Shaun said. “‘Reopening’ implies that we’re going back to what was, but the world has fundamentally changed during this last year. We have to open in a new way; everything requires more thinking.”
