Susan Claassen
Susan Claassen has received acclaim as a theater artist, educator, and humanitarian and is also an active resident at White Sands La Jolla. Prior to her move to La Jolla, she called Tucson, AZ her home since 1972, where she evolved to “Emeritus” after 50 years as Managing Artistic Director with their Invisible Theatre. Her award-winning production of A CONVERSATION WITH EDITH HEAD is touring internationally. Performing as Edith Head, she received a prestigious LA Stage Alliance Ovation Best Actress Nomination and was nominated as Best Solo Performance by The San Francisco Bay Area Critics Association. She has been the recipient of the Woman on the Move Award in the Arts, the Governor’s Award for Women Who Create and honored as one of Arizona’s 48 Most Intriguing Women. Susan also received the Distinguished Service Award from the State Federation for Exceptional Children for her commitment to arts education for special populations.
