To our team members and residents:

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is changing all of our lives, with how we live, work, travel, eat and interact. During this unprecedented and uncertain time, it may feel like there are more questions than answers on what to expect in the coming days and weeks.

What has not changed is our commitment to doing all we can to keep our residents and team members healthy and safe. In the past few weeks, cross-functional teams have been working closely together, virtually and within our communities, to share ideas, resources and guidance on how to respond to this global emergency. As the pandemic disrupts our normal operations, it has never been more important that we remain focused on inspiring the best life possible at HumanGood.

We cannot take care of our residents if we do not take care of our team members. Day in and day out, HumanGood team members are on the front lines of this battle, putting our own fears and uncertainties aside, selflessly serving our residents and going above and beyond what is needed to keep our communities going. We are doing everything we can to support our teams at this time but we need to do more and help is on the way. We are exploring how to provide financial assistance for child care or dependent care costs; food and basic necessities for team members and their families; and providing more support for team members who cannot report in to work.

As social distancing forces us to remain physically apart, our teams are working to help our residents stay connected, within our communities and with their families and friends. To that end, we have created a Connections Team to support residents and team members by offering practical and creative tools and resources to help residents stay in touch with each other, their families, and our team members via video or web chat, phone, paper notes and email. The Connections Team is also working closely with our community Life Enrichment teams to help residents continue participating in recreation, fitness and mentally stimulating activities.

As I said in my previous message, we can do this if we work together. I want to thank each and every one of our team members who are doing their best in a tough environment, and I also want to thank our residents, whose gratitude and appreciation for our team members is hugely appreciated and who are doing their part to help fight the spread of this disease. I also invite you to share ideas for what we can do to continue supporting one another and to share stories of how you have remained connected and engaged despite the limitations. During these times, even the small moments of inspiration can have a big, positive impact.

This pandemic, while serious and scary, will not stop us from living our best lives. We will be cautious, careful and safe in our work but we will also be courageous, passionate and innovative in our efforts to be human and to be good during this time of crisis.

As always, please know how grateful I am for every one of you in the HumanGood family.
