Resident Anne Wilkins joined thousands of volunteers across the nation to help the American Heart Association celebrate American Heart Month by knitting and crocheting little red hats for babies born in February.
The association’s “Little Hats, Big Hearts” initiative, launched in 2014, symbolizes the association’s mission of heart-healthy lives for everyone. The effort also raises awareness of congenital heart defects, and what can be done to help prevent those defects. In 2018 alone, the association received more than 200,000 hats for distribution.
