The 208-unit, two-story residence, originally built in 1974, underwent an eight-phase renovation totaling $75 million. The renovations, which began in October 2016, touched every aspect of the community ranging from new fixtures and finishings in all apartments to improved mobility features throughout the community.  The renovations also included upgrading the fire panel and electrical system, as well the addition of central heating and air conditioning.

People sitting around tables clapping.“This multi-million dollar renovation project will help ensure that the housing needs of future generations of low-income seniors are met, in the heart of the very pricey Silicon Valley,” said Ancel Romero, president of affordable housing. “HumanGood is honored to fulfill its role in this most worthy endeavor.”

Construction at Life’s Garden was completed in October 2018. The community was renovated in partnership with Sunnyvale Life Inc., a co-sponsor of the community.

Development and construction was overseen by Beacon Development Group, a subsidiary of HumanGood. With our affordable housing team, Beacon Development has facilitated the funding, design, construction and renovation of our 59 affordable housing communities located in California and Washington state.
