As part of the successful aging initiative, made possible by Masterpiece Living®, The Terraces at Los Altos will host National Senior Health & Fitness Day. This special event will celebrate the vitality of older Americans with the theme of, “Improve Your Health for a Better Self!”

At the event, there will be senior-related health and fitness activities encouraging all older adults to enhance the quality of their lives through regular physical activity. Activities will vary depending on the interests and fitness levels of the seniors participating at this locally planned event.

The community has also implemented Movement Matters, a month-long initiative in May where team members and residents of The Terraces work to add more physical activity into their daily lives. The idea is all about moving with a purpose by incorporating the four components of Masterpiece Living (spiritual, intellectual, social and physical) into movement. The month-long initiative was kicked off with a celebration on April 29, where residents and team members shared their personal movement goals and motivation, and was accompanied by refreshments, healthy snacks, and fun prizes.

In promoting and increasing Movement Matters awareness, The Terraces has created special messaging banners that include the fours components of successful aging. These have been strategically placed throughout campus. The executive director has extended the invitation through a personalized letter for residents, board members, team members, and families.

By promoting movement in various ways, The Terraces hopes that residents and team members will be encouraged to lead healthy lifestyles.
