On June 15, Royal Oaks resident and US Army veteran, Sgt. Ken Mallory, was selected to be the Military Hero of the Game for the L.A. Dodgers.

One military person is chosen per game and is honored during the middle of the second inning. This was the first Dodgers game open to the public in 2021, and there were more than 50,000 people in attendance to witness Ken’s moment of recognition.

Ken is a WWII veteran whose honors include the Bronze Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, and the French Legion of Honour medal.

He and his wife, Betty, have lived at Royal Oaks for more than 12 years.

Congratulations, Ken!
