Masterpiece Living honors Plymouth Villiage with the “Most Creative Theme” and “No Limit” awards. Rosewood receives distinction as 2017 Center for Successful Aging.HumanGood celebrated two recent awards from Masterpiece Living. The Rosewood community, located in Bakersfield, California, was recognized as a Center for Successful Aging and Plymouth Village, located in Redlands, California, was recently awarded a Living It! campaign winner.

The Rosewood community has been recognized for excellence in providing high-quality senior services for its residents over the past four decades. This certification is meant to distinguish the most successful aging destinations in the country—those that are innovators and leaders in the senior living industry.

The Center for Successful Aging recognition results from the community’s commitments to fostering a culture of growth and empowerment, which is extended not only to community residents, but also to team members. According to Masterpiece Living, to receive this certification, organizations must fulfill all of the criteria, which includes well-trained leadership, data-driven decision making, active coaching and multi-dimensional programming that supports all levels of living.

“We are honored to be recognized as a Certified Center for Successful Aging and we are excited to uphold our tradition of meeting the highest national standards in senior care,” says Travis Staples, executive director of Rosewood. “This certification demonstrates the commitment of our staff and the community in helping to fulfill the lives of our residents.”

Meanwhile, Plymouth Village recently held its own Wizard of Oz-themed campaign, where residents and team members were divided up into six teams based upon characters from the movie. The campaign’s goal was to engage all levels of living through various educational and social events. For example, Plymouth’s Assisted Living team attended a pajama party in the main dining room, participating in a pancake flipping challenge. The event brought together two groups who normally would not interact with each other, allowing them to engage and socialize through a common activity.

The most well-received activity, however, according to resident activity coordinator Catherine Ferguson, were 15-minute brain teasers, which were planted around the community. These educational activities were meant not only to stimulate residents, but also encourage them to socialize with community members.

“Residents kept asking team members for additional brain teasers to take home and complete,” says Ferguson. “It was such a hit that we plan to create a similar program that will challenge and bring together residents in all levels of living—from residential living to memory support."

As a result of the Wizard of Oz-themed campaign, Plymouth Village received the Masterpiece Living 2017 “Living It!” campaign awards for “Most Creative Theme” and “No Limit” categories. By implementing the campaign, Plymouth demonstrated an ability to bring all levels of living together in an entertaining and educational way, which helped to increase resident socialization and cognitive functioning.
