On July 21, sales counselor Megan Foster suited up to join her fellow teammates for the Alzheimer’s Association’s 5th annual Blondes vs. Brunettes flag football game to raise awareness and funds for the association’s California central coast chapter.
The game, held at Bishop Diego High School in Santa Barbara, drew a huge crowd and went into overtime after a scoreless four-quarter game. The Blondes scored first, but they didn’t make the extra point. Then, the Brunettes came back strong making a touchdown and getting the extra point to win the trophy.
“Each team had some really solid defense,” says Foster, who played defensive end for the Blondes this year. She has played since it began five years ago, making her one of the few veterans still participating in the annual game.
“It has been such a fun event, and there's a great turnout from the community.”
Megan says they’re close to meeting their $90,000 mark—breaking all fundraising records. “We will reach the goal.”
