Piedmont Gardens Director of Nursing, Myra Punla, receives Veteran VIP Award.

Myra PunlaMcKnight’s Senior Living has named Myra Punla, director of nursing at Piedmont Gardens, as part of its 2024 McKnight’s Women of Distinction Award. Myra was chosen as one of 16 women to earn the award in the Veteran VIP category.

The Veteran VIP category honors women who have more than 15 years of experience and have made an impact on the senior living, skilled nursing or home care fields, typically at a level lower than vice president or its equivalent.

“Being named a McKnight's Women of Distinction is an honor and so surreal," says Myra. "Nursing is a work of heart. Sometimes I inspire my resident, most often they inspire me. I am overwhelmed with gratitude to be recognized by my peers. Thank you for inspiring me to continue striving towards excellence!”

Winners will be celebrated on May 14 in Chicago at the McKnight’s Women of Distinction Forum. View the full list of winners here.

The program, now in its sixth year, is coordinated by McKnight’s Senior Living, McKnight’s Long-Term Care News and McKnight’s Home Care. Since the program began in 2019, 252 women in the fields of senior living, skilled nursing or home care have been honored across multiple award categories.
