Long Beach Fire Department Capt. Dave Rosa was shot and killed early this morning while responding to a fire alarm at Covenant Manor, a HumanGood affordable housing community in Long Beach, California. A second firefighter and a resident also were wounded. A resident of the community was arrested and we are cooperating with authorities and their investigation.
Our hearts are broken over the shocking and tragic loss of Capt. Rosa. We offer our deepest condolences, prayers and thanks to the heroic first responders who came to the aid of our residents and team members at Covenant Manor. We are focused on helping those residents who were displaced from their homes and assisting the authorities in their ongoing investigation.
