HumanGood receives grant for healthy living program

July 14, 2020

HumanGood has received a generous grant from the Ben B. Cheney Foundation to support the Harbor View Manor Healthy Living Program. The $50,000 grant, which is payable over two years beginning in 2021, will support residents at Harbor View Manor, a HumanGood affordable housing community for low-income seniors in Tacoma, Washington.

The grant funds will provide support for the cost of a licensed therapist/case manager from Comprehensive Life Resources (CLR), which has provided behavioral health services to the Tacoma and Pierce County community for more than 50 years. Additionally, to reinforce the supportive measures provided by the counselors, training is offered to the staff of Harbor View Manor who learn valuable tools to strengthen their crisis intervention skills in support of residents who experience an event that produces emotional, mental, physical or behavioral stress.

Since its inception in 2018, this program has addressed the mental well-being of seniors in this community by teaching and incorporating coping skills and obtaining the psychological tools to live their best life possible.
