Dr. Sara Hart has built her life on transformation — not just her own but also the lives of others. From boardrooms to podcasts and from bookshelves to greeting card aisles, her work centers on one guiding principle: helping people, especially women, recognize their value and step into their potential.

Sara is the founder and president of Hartcom, a communications firm dedicated to guiding individuals and organizations through change so they can realize their potential. Her office is a short stroll from where she lives at The Terraces at Los Altos, but the impact of her work extends far beyond her neighborhood. Her speaking engagements and books on the psychology of success have reached a broad audience and created real change.

Sara’s message has been inspired by her own personal growth and changes, including the process of rightsizing as she moved to The Terraces in 2017. Leaving a large house and confronting the emotions tied to that experience was difficult, but it sparked a new perspective that she captured in her book, The Upside of Downsizing: Getting to Enough.

“It’s not a book about how to sell, sort and donate your things; it’s about the feelings you experience while doing all of that and knowing when you have enough,” Sara says.

She believes transitions, even difficult ones, are an opportunity to discover new strengths and purpose while embracing life more fully. Since moving to The Terraces, Sara has come to deeply appreciate the freedom that comes with a simpler, low-maintenance life. She lives in an apartment with her cat, Mr. Bu, and has felt a sense of clarity and satisfaction from the rightsizing process.

“I finally found my ‘enough,’ and I am extremely happy.”

Her latest book, Prime Spark: Women Over 55, It’s Our Time!, is a call to action encouraging women to reclaim their voices and rewrite society’s narrative about aging. The message is dynamic and active, with regular episodes on her podcast, Prime Spark with Sara Hart, and even a line of greeting cards designed to uplift women.

“We are about to see the ascendancy of women over 55 standing up and saying, ‘OK, it’s time for a change. We are dynamic, involved, contributing, powerful, desirable and vital in our communities.’ I wrote this book for older women who want to thrive, change the way our culture depicts us, and make the best choices during our prime years,” Sara says.

The freedom and empowerment Sara has experienced since her move to The Terraces, with its low-maintenance lifestyle and the flexibility that it provides, have provided her with the time and energy to help others. In every motivational speech, podcast episode, book or conversation, Sara’s message is consistent: Growth doesn’t end at a certain age, and fulfillment is available for anyone who is ready to claim it.

Empowerment isn’t just a personal journey but a collective movement, and sometimes, the first step is recognizing when you’ve found your “enough” and are ready to move forward like Sara.
