Enriching the Experiences of Our Residents

Helping Reduce Food Insecurity Across Affordable Housing Communities

Cupboards of Care was launched in 2016 to address the dilemma of food insecurity among low-income older adults in our Affordable Housing Communities.

With the generosity of charitable partners, including individuals, corporations and foundations, we provide direct financial assistance in the form of debit cards for the purchase of healthy food items, such as fresh produce and lean meats.

Cupboards of Care serves communities in:

  • California
  • Delaware
  • Oregon
  • Pennsylvania
  • Washington

Cupboards of Care reduces hunger among residents and promotes healthy eating habits.

Residents receive a reward card each quarter to purchase healthy foods. They also receive counseling and education from a certified nutrionist.

Residents return their receipts for review/recording and are counseled as needed.

Outcomes include increased levels of food security, improved healthy eating habits and a variety of health benefits.
