For an eighth consecutive year, Westminster Gardens has hosted the annual community event for the city’s youth service program known as Duarte’s Promise: the Alliance for Youth. Residents, team members and their guest volunteers celebrated this special day of service by planting an array of flowers and other native plants around the campus. Also Andres Chavez, Cesar’s grandson and representative of the Cesar Chavez Foundation, was on hand to share the life and success of his grandfather’s work as a civil rights, Latino and farm labor leader.
Volunteers hailed from various local organizations including AmeriCorps California Volunteers, the Duarte Area Resource Team and Cardinals Helping Youth Live Life. Discover more below about the special day.
