Choosing senior living: ‘A great relief’

Written by HumanGood | Dec 15, 2017

Judson Park residents Jim and Marcia Patrick shared how they came to choose Judson Park to be their new home in 2016, as part of a new special series called “Choosing Senior Living” by Senior Correspondents and myLifeSite.

It was a five-year search for the couple, including visiting 20 continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs or ‘life plan communities’ as they’re increasingly becoming known) in Tucson, Arizona and Seattle, Washington. While the decision-making process took some time, Jim wrote in his first-hand account that he and Marcia discovered a lot about living in a community and what was important for them to be able to feel at home.

“Whether anyone eventually decides on a CCRC, we both believe it is well worth checking them out. As mentioned, we starting looking into them five years before making a decision, and we are glad we did, as we now feel the time was right when we made the move at age 78,” Jim wrote.

“And our advice to anyone is, ‘Don’t wait too long.’”
